Wow. As I’m realizing it’s been almost a year since my last post, I’m also wondering where has time gone?
It’s been quite a busy 2018 for me. I’m taking IKNITIATIVES in a new direction and have stopped dyeing yarn for the time being.
My last show at Indie Knit & Spin in Pittsburgh took place in February 2017. And while I still currently sell yarn through my Etsy shop (steeply discounted to reduce my inventory 😉 ), I have transitioned into the “maker” role. Most of my decision to stop dyeing yarn came about when I started graduate school in February 2017. Fast forward to now and I have 2 (yes!) classes left that begin in October and then I will be done in December!
I’ve been thinking about starting up the yarn dyeing again in 2019, but I want to see where my making takes me. So as for now, any new yarn that I dye will likely be for my own consumption.
Regarding my decision to become a maker- I guess you could say I’ve always been a maker, but the difference here is that I’ll be putting myself out there and offering my hand-made items to a mass audience as opposed to only friends / family. What also prompted the change for me was the fact that I have a wholesale deal with a local on trend boutique, Jeppie, that is really in tune with my aesthetic. I’ll be making knitted hats & headbands as well as crocheted infinity cowls for sale in Jeppie. I’m super grateful for this opportunity!
So with that transition, I also had to think about re-branding and I wanted to create a logo that better suited this new direction I am pursuing. I decided to go with a more modern / less playful logo and I think it works well.
I’m looking forward to exploring and sharing my new adventures on here with you so please stay tuned for more posts!
Happy making!

Ha, we really are in the same boat. 🙂 And you’re right, it’s our blog, our decision. I’m looking forward to seeing your makes. 👍
I totally agree. Six months into my blogging life, I decided to post about all my interests, not just knitting. All the best in your classes, business and personal life! Very clever name – Iknitiatives.
Thank you so much!
