Sugarplum Mist hand spun, hand dyed

Here is a yarn that I spun as thick and thin / slub and hand dyed.

I pre-soaked the wool and kettle dyed it using Wilton Gel Food Colors.

Overall, I’m very pleased with how it turned out. I love how it is pastel-y blue and purple.

Those two colors and a little help from a color name generator inspired the colorway name of Sugarplum Mist.

I’m not really good at coming up with really good color names so I generally use a color name generator. One in particular that I like can be found here. I will admit some of the names are a bit strange sounding so I usually mix and match. But, I know there are quite a few out there if you search “color name generator”.

Not sure if anyone else uses color name generators as inspiration, but if you do, please leave a comment and post the link to it.

I don’t use a name generator, but I like to use unusual/old words for my yarns. I have found several great lists on google : )
