I finished the fair isle Snowflake hat about 10 minutes ago. I have to admit that I really had no clue if it was even going to turn out remotely similar to what it should be, however, I was pleasantly surprised.
If I would have followed the pattern spot on, it would have looked exactly how it was supposed to but I tend to always improvise with patterns- partly due to the fact that I’m impatient and want to finish the project. I find that happens more times than none when I have to decrease- especially with hats. I have a trusty shortcut method that shapes the crown nicely and basically only uses 3 decrease rounds.
I must say for never having done color stranding or fair isle in a pattern, I am pleased with how it turned out. I’m especially proud of my floats which were painstaking at first until I got a rhythm down.
Well, it’s off to bed for me and I hope to find a new project to start on tomorrow.
Luckily, I have Wednesdays and the weekends off each week. 🙂
